Satin Rose - Monsalvat for Asia

Satin Rose is a women's menstrual hygiene programme developed by Mosalvat, a project founded by a Rotarian from RC Marbella.  www.monsalvatforasia.org

The goal of the project is to make sure girls attend and finish school.  In traditional Nepal menstruation is considered a taboo and girls are banished from areas of the house and the community. Some are even left in the animal sheds. The project aims to inform and educate, to reduce the stigma.  Apart from the need to change attitudes to menstruation, girls and women are held back by lack of hygenic sanitary care and places to wash and change. So during their period, girls don't attend school and eventually can drop out altogether, reducing their life options drastically.

Rotary Club Marbella-Guadalmina has donated 1500€ to help with the programme of education and the supply of sanitary pad kits.
