Nuevo Hogar Betania

Since 2013 our Club has provided building materials, solar panels, and kitchen items for the building and development of the centre. As the role of the centre expands, every year we donate extra food supplies for the ever-increasing needs.

Nuevo Hogar Betania is a non-profit association in La Linea, one of the poorest areas in Spain. Their mission is to serve anyone who is in a situation of social exclusion (homeless people, inmates and former-inmates, immigrants, women victims of human trafficking, families, immigrants...)

Founded by social entrepreneur Begona Arana Alvarez, who was presented with the Princess of Girona Award,  for young leaders who have achieved success in the creation and promotion of social projects.

Hogar Betania provides:

  • A night shelter for the homeless

  • A residential centre with social and legal advice, therapy and education

  • Classes for children from poor families to help with their school work

  • Meals (and cooking lessons) to people who don't have enough to eat

  • Offers a meals on wheels service to over 65s who are poor and have mobility problems

  • Runs a summer school for children whose parents have to work, offering the children breakfast, lunch and a snack, as well as activities

  • Provides social support for victims of human trafficking, prostitution and gender violence

  • Educates about sexual exploitation

  • Advocates and campaigns for greater awareness of human rights, while working with sustainable development goals.
